Input Distribution Programme for establishing Custom Hiring Centre

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam (Barapani), Meghalaya

        In continuation of the recently concluded five-day training programme on “Operation and Maintenance of Improved Farm Tools & Equipment” (16–20th March 2026) at Agricultural Engineering, Division of System Research and Engineering (DSRE), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, an input distribution programme was organized on 23rd March 2026 at the same venue. The event established a custom hiring centre at Lawsohtun village, East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya, to be operated by the Lawsohtun Farmers Association. Inputs funded by the AICRP on FIM project, TSP, and Farmers FIRST project of the institute such as a power tiller, straw-spawn filling cum compaction machine (bagging machine) for oyster mushroom production, and hand tools including a maize sheller, weeders, and briquette moulder were handed over to a team of farmers led by the President of the Lawsohtun Farmers Association. During the recently concluded training, 10 farmers from the association were trained on the operation and maintenance of these tools. The programme was successfully organized and coordinated by Dr. Hijam Jiten Singh (PI, AICRP on FIM), Dr. H. Dayananda Singh (Co-PI, AICRP on FIM) and Er. Ajaykumar Kethavath (Scientist, LWME) in the presence of Dr. N. Uttam Singh (PI, Farmers FIRST Project & Co-Nodal Officer, TSP).
